This means choosing a professional smoothie blender with high wattage (a minimum of 1200 watts) and a commercial-grade motor and blades.
Capacity
Again you will be serving a high number of people you, therefore, need commercial smoothie jugs with a large enough capacity to keep up with demand.
In fact, you will most likely need more than the one jug that comes with commercial blenders and may need to buy additional jugs from the manufacturers.
Price
I'm a great believer in that you don't have to buy high-end commercial equipment to get the desired results.
And when it comes to commercial smoothie blenders there are many mid-range models out there for under £500, which are up to the job.

The brand is not as well known
If you are on a budget then the Berg Commercial blender may be the one for you.
It's at the lower end of the budget but it also offers pretty much all you need from an industrial blender.
It has high-grade steel blades for crushing ice and has a very long 7-year commercial warranty.
It also has a useful soup-making function which can come in handy in the winter months.
The main downside to the Berg commercial blender is it doesn't have a sound enclosure which means it can get a bit noisy if using front of house and you want to speak to customers.

A sleek and modern design, the Ninja 2-1 blender will look good in any commercial kitchen.
It has an LCD display and Auto IQ technology which mean you can tailor the time and speed according to what types of fruit and vegetable you are using.
It also comes with a relatively large serving jug and a handy recipe book to help you create a smoothie menu.
The two negatives for the Ninja blender, however, it that like the Berg it doesn't have a sound enclosure.
It also has a relatively low powered motor, compared to the other blenders, at 1200 watts.
However, the low powered motor can be a benefit if using in a mobile juice truck where you have to keep a close eye on electrical capacity.

The Buffalo bar blender is a very good mid-range heavy-duty smoothie blender and offers some good features for the price.
It has a sound enclosure making it good for front of house, has the largest serving jug on the list at 2.5 litres and a long-lasting metal clutch for heavy-duty use.
This model is one of my favourites and the only downside with the Buffalo blender is that the manufacturer only offers a 1-year guarantee.

The Berg commercial bar blender is an upgrade to the Berg Pro Specialist (first blender on the list) and another good mid-range all-rounder.
It has a soundproofing enclosure to minimize blending noise and a high powered motor at 2200 watts for crushing ice and making smoothies in large volumes.
It also has a useful temperature control function that switches off the blender when it gets too hot and a very long warranty of 7 years.
I always try to cover the negatives with any product I review, but I have to say I'm really struggling with this blender.
The one thing I would say is that the brand is maybe not as well known in the UK as say a Blendtec or Ninja blender.

The Blendtec Classic blender is a well-known brand, which is made in the US and is at the high end of the £500 budget.
Like the Ninja smoothie blender, it has a sleek and modern design with an LCD display making it look good in a commercial kitchen.
It also has a self-cleaning function which helps to save time, 4 preprogrammed cycles for different types of smoothies and a relatively large 2.2-litre serving jug.
However, for the higher price, it lacks some of the functions the other heavy-duty smoothie blenders offer.
For example, It doesn't come with a sound enclosure and has a mid-range powered motor of 1560 watts.
